God’s Strength is Mighty
God has the power to change things. This power is like the working of His mighty strength which He exerted in Christ when He raised him from the dead and seated Him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, [Ephesians 1:20] We don’t have that power to change things in our nation, government, community, church, or family. But Paul prayed that we will understand the incredible greatness of God’s power in us who believe Him (Eph 1:19) We have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us.( 2Cor:4:6-7) As Jesus left the world He said ”you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you and you will be my witnesses” (Act 1:8) It will take time to discover the wonder, the glory and the joy of knowing God but also learning to hear His voice and know what He wants us to pray.
It could be praying about the laws being passed by politicians who think it will benefit our nation rather than attack our religious freedoms and distort the Christian message. It may be about laws in Queensland which prevent a gender treatment inquiry or give no hope for the babies who are born alive after a failed abortion. Whenever we pray our fears need to be stilled and replaced by a greater trust in God’s mighty strength, His great love for our nation and for there to be a righteousness that lifts our nation (Pb 14:34). Let’s thank God for the blessings that we have yet to receive but have been promised. Let’s pray that His light will shine in our hearts to give us light, the knowledge of the glory of God on the face of Jesus Christ. (2 Cor 4;6-7) and that we will know “All power in heaven and on earth is given to Jesus” (Mt 28:18)
Let’s pray:
* That Christ, who our nation is rejecting, becomes our chief cornerstone and this would be marvelous in our eyes. (Ps 118:22) That His light shines out of the darkness into politician’s hearts as they create and vote on new laws.
* Thanking Him for knowing that we have the exceeding greatness of Christ’s power in us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power (Eph 1:18) and that He has given us authority to overcome all the power of Satan (Luke 10:19)
* That as a nation we stop trying to work out our own salvation, acknowledge our brokenness and bow our knees in humble repentance. That He clothe us with His righteousness and enable us to be transformed by His power.
Ramadan – Night of Power
The Islamic holy season is drawing to a close with the Night of Power occurring tonight. The Night of Power is when all Muslims across the world seek a power encounter with their god and on this night more than any other in the year expect a supernatural intrusion into their lives. As they seek an encounter with their supreme being let us pray that they in fact will meet the risen Jesus through dreams and visions.
Please pray:
* That many Muslims will tonight encounter the Christian God as they seek their supernatural encounter with their supreme being on this night of power.
* That many Christians will tonight, and in coming days, have an opportunity to share the Gospel with Muslims and explain to them that any encounter with a higher spiritual power could have in fact been with Jesus and the Holy Spirit.
* That any Muslims that do encounter “a man dressed in white” in their dreams tonight and coming days will find ways of following up on their experience to cement that encounter with a developing personal relationship with Jesus.
Religious Leaders Revolt over Proposed School Reforms
A coalition of Christian, Islamic and Jewish leaders and educators has written a joint letter to Anthony Albanese and Attorney-General Mark Dreyfus. In it they urge them to reject a proposed overhaul of religious schools because it would “extinguish their distinct and authentic character” and render them “indistinguishable from public schools”. The letter attacks the final report of the Australian Law Reform commission (ALRC) and warns that its recommendations would have “disastrous consequences”, preventing the overwhelming majority of faith-based schools from preferring persons who share and authentically live out their faith. The letter stated that religious schools were aimed not only at educating children but also at instilling religious values and demonstrating to students “what a life lived in accordance with the relevant religion looks and feels like in practice” and that religion is not merely an adjunct to core activities, but an integral part of them. The rights of parents to do so is enshrined in international law.
In the letter the educators urge the government to return to the proposal put forward by former commission president, Sarah Derrington, in 2019 which was endorsed by the Australian Catholic Bishops Conference, the National Catholic Education Commission, the Executive Council of Australian Jewry and the Anglican Church Diocese of Sydney. The letter stated that the “Derrington model” would remove discrimination from schools while also guaranteeing the right of religious institutions to conduct their affairs in a way consistent with their religious ethos”.
Please pray:
“That energy is God’s energy, an energy deep within you.” Philippians 2:13 MSG “It is God’s blessing on your life that enables you to make a difference in the lives of others. God is the source of all blessing. He loves to bless you.” Nicky Gumbel, ‘How to Be a Blessing Machine’, Bible in One Year.
* Let’s pray and thank God for the energy of faith leaders who care so deeply about educating children and instilling religious values into them.
* Pray that the Mr. Albanese and Mr. Dreyfus do not act on the recommendations of the ALRC. Ask God to bless them with insight into the value of religious education.
* Pray for our Christian schools and teachers. Pray that they know God’s energy, an energy deep within them, and that it is God’s blessing on their lives which enables them to make a difference in the lives of their students.
Praying for Issues in the News
* The ongoing saga of the Bruce Lehrmann / Britany Higgins encounter seems to be going from bad to worse drawing in more and more people into the web of deceit. Please pray that this legal procedure can be brought to a conclusion that results in justice for the many parties involved and a conclusion to the unsavoury ongoing public accusations.
* The AUKUS agreement appears to have run into construction problems in America related to the Virginia class submarines being built as part of the agreement, with a delay of 2 to 3 years now expected. Please pray that problems associated with the building of these submarines for this agreement, which is vital to the security of our nation, will be overcome and that no further delays will be encountered in either this or other aspects of the agreement.
Praying for our Nation
This week let us pray against the Spirit of control and the abuse of power within The Church which has led to a spirit of rebellion and complacency in the Nation. Ezekiel 34: 1-6, 1 Samuel 15:19-23.
