Power to Change (formerly Campus Crusade for Christ) recently announced the production of a new animated version of the JESUS film, due for cinema release across Australia in December 2026. This film is being described as a USD$150Million gift to the Body of Christ and will represent a faithful retelling of the Gospel of Luke, boasting a quality of animation to rival anything the big Hollywood studios can produce! Prayer networks, denominations, para-church organisations and Christian leaders across Australia are invited to take a prayerful moment to consider what God may have in mind to do with this movie. Is there something bigger God has in mind for December 2026 – a national evangelistic outreach focusing on the simple yet revolutionary story of Jesus? What would it look like for the Christian church in Australia – in its many and varied expressions – to unite in telling the story of Jesus afresh to the nation? What would it look like to have this once-in-a-lifetime cinema release of a new JESUS film as the centrepiece of a coordinated effort by Christians to tell the story of Jesus to Australia?
And what would it look like to train and equip Christians across the nation to prayerfully and boldly pursue opportunities within their own spheres of influence to share the story of Jesus? And what would it look like to call the nation to prayer – a call to focus on the Gospel of Jesus Christ, to cast off all hesitations and hindrances, and to find new zeal in sharing this good news broadly, passionately and skillfully? The team at Power to Change sees this upcoming movie release as more than just a film. In prayer, we are experiencing afresh the passion of God for this nation, and a sense that this movie is only part of what the Father wants to do in lifting up His Son across Australia in a national scale coordinated outreach in December 2026. This is an invitation to ask God what he has planned, and to share notes from your time of waiting on Him for discernment and guidance. Anything of this magnitude is not the initiative of man; it must come from God alone.
