National 24-Hour Prayer Watch 40/24 10th October 2024

This is an abridged Prayer Watch bulletin as a result of us giving our contributing Intercessors a mini break from their workload. The full bulletin will resume on 17th October.

This week please pray for the following.

*     Poorer teaching and research performance has pushed nearly half of Australia’s universities further down the latest global league table which measures research, teaching, knowledge transfer and internationalisation. The University of Melbourne is Australia’s highest-ranking university for the 15th consecutive year but has dropped 2 places in global rankings to 39 worldwide. Monash University fell 4 places to 54. The University of Sydney recorded its worst performance since 2018 at 61st. The University of Queensland suffered the biggest drop of 7 places slipping to 77. The Australian National University fell 5 places to 73. These woke infested institutions need a good shake up to return them to their former positions of prominence.  Please pray that with the spotlight in recent times firmly on the policies and performance of our universities that steps will be taken internally to address the deficiencies in learning that each University has portrayed through these results.

*     The Pacific Prayer Assembly is being held in Suva Fiji over the next few days. Please pray that it will be a God appointed time and that those who attend will be inspired in their prayers for the nations of the Pacific and drawn into a deeper personal relationship with God.

*      The Australian Education Union has slapped work bans on teaching reforms designed to help children learn, in an ugly funding fight with the Albanese government. An immediate ban on the implementation of the Better and Fairer Schools Agreement will stop teachers from switching to evidence-based teaching techniques, such as the use of phonic to help children learn to read by sounding out letters of words. The Federal Government has offered to increase the commonwealth’s share of public-school funding from 20% to 22.5% however the Union is holding out for 100% of the needs-based “Gonski funding” recommended 13 years ago. Please pray that this dispute will be quickly resolved so that the education of our children is not adversely affected.
