The Archbishop of Canterbury and Rev Nicky Gumbel are some of the most recognisable names in the British Christian community to have been included in the 2024 New Year honours list. The King has bestowed on Most Rev Justin Welby the Knight Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order (RVO) for his role in making the coronation a success. The title is a personal gift from the monarch and given independently of the honours awarded by Downing Street. The most senior cleric of the Church of England took to social media to express his gratitude for the award and said it “reflects the efforts of the amazing team behind the service”. One other prominent name included in this year’s list is the former leader of Holy Trinity Brompton, Rev Nicky Gumbel. The 68-year-old has been awarded a CBE for his services to the Church of England.
