No Males in Female Prisons in the Northern Territory

Northern Territory Chief Minister Lia Finocchiaro has declared there will be no males housed in female prisons in the Northern Territory. She is the first leader in Australia to make such a bold, evidence-based statement surrounding the horrific injustice of violent males gaining access to women’s spaces and prisons by self-declaring they are female. “There should be no men in women’s prisons, full stop,” Ms Finocchiaro said. “I can tell you now, here in the Northern Territory there are no blokes in women’s jails and we’re not having that here, not on my watch.” Ms Finocchiaro slammed the “self-identification” correction policies of most states – and the previous NT Labor government – under which inmates are housed based on gender identity rather than sex. “We’ve got really clear guidelines around this. Labor had a weaker process, but we want to make it really clear that if you are a man and you’re fundamentally equipped as a man, if I could put it that way, then you belong in a men’s prison.”

Ms Finocchiaro was responding to a call by the Women’s Forum Australia, which has written to Anthony Albanese and every state premier and territory leader protesting what it called “a national pattern of state-sanctioned injustice and abuse, whereby male offenders are being permitted to enter women’s prisons under the guise of gender identity”. Ms Finocchiaro said she was horrified that there were no clear-cut rules in most states. “If you’re born a bloke, you go into a men’s prison. At the end of the day, this is really about women’s safety. It’s about women’s dignity,” she said. “And when you overlay that against the scourge of domestic violence in this country and the way in which women are so targeted and victimised, this is our nation’s shame. “It’s just absurd to think that people would be putting men equipped with male genitalia in women’s prisons.” The Chief Minister unequivocally and unashamedly proclaimed she will defend women’s sex-based rights and called out Labor for the anti-women policies.

“If other states want to be confused by this, that’s a matter for them to justify to their communities, but we won’t be confused by this woke agenda that is being driven by Labor governments around the country,” Ms Finocchiaro said. “This is the consequence of ideologically driven law and policy at state and federal level. Labor is obsessed with social engineering as a distraction from doing what this country actually needs.” “Women need to be protected, both in and outside of jail. This is not rocket science, and some people have forgotten why they’re there, and some people have made life far more complicated than it needs to be,” she said. “This is about people’s fundamental right to be safe. And it doesn’t need to be more complicated than that.” Bravo and well said! The lies and deception of gender ideology are being exposed, and it is time more leaders read the writing on the wall.
