South Australian Education Minister Protects Males at the Expense of Female Students

South Australian Education Minister Blair Boyer admits he has no intention to protect girls in sport or schools. He is much more concerned about boys who are being lied to, claiming they can be girls if they want to. A 13-year-old male student who attends a Catholic school in South Australia has been competing in female divisions and breaking records held by girls. Parents are furious and have sounded the alarm, but Boyer isn’t interested. “It became quite noticeable a lot of their daughters were losing. It was anger — I mean, for that child to be competing with girls in a Catholic school of all places,” a father-of-two told the media. But Education Minister Blair Boyer doubled down on the decision, saying all students should be able to compete in school sports. What a ridiculous statement to make. No one is saying this boy cannot compete in sport, he can compete, but in the correct sex category. It is about reality, fairness and safety.

He said he “wants everyone to feel welcome” but by allowing males in female divisions, he is demonstrating the exact opposite. He displayed nothing but ignorance on the issue, only appealing to feel-good terms such as “inclusion.” But his version of inclusion means the exclusion of girls who don’t want to compete against males. It is all about fueling the deception that people can change sex instead of coming alongside confused children and affirming reality instead of a fantasy. Thankfully, an opposition member in the state government has decided to actually oppose the government on this issue. Senator Leah Blythe has issued a comprehensive media statement that the government would do well to heed.
