More than 1,000 new believers celebrated by taking part in mass baptisms on both sides of the country on Good Friday. A coalition of churches organised one of them on the Frankston foreshore in Melbourne. Many spontaneous last-minute decisions made it difficult to get an accurate count on the number of baptisms, but it’s estimated to be between 400 and 500. That’s around three times as many as last year in what’s become an annual event in the suburb. Influencer Jamie Zhu who has 10-million followers on all platforms was among those baptised and described the event on TikTok. Under the banner of Frankston Churches, the organisers posted: “What a beautiful day it was today in Frankston! Thank You, Lord, for the sunshine!” “Today, we came together — not as separate churches, but as one family — to celebrate hundreds of decisions to step into new life in Christ.” “On this Good Friday, as we remembered the price Jesus paid, we also witnessed the power of His love.” “People choosing to leave their old lives behind, going down into those waters with Christ, and rising again in Him. Behold, new creations!
“A huge thank you to everyone involved in planning this incredible event, and to the Frankston Ministers Network & combined churches who contributed their teams and hearts to make this moment possible. Well done!!” “May King Jesus be glorified. May every person who said “yes” today truly encounter the risen King. May He receive the reward of His suffering.” “Please continue to pray for each of these precious lives and the journey ahead of them.” “What a blessing to be part of such a monumental moment.” Fire Church pastor Alex Barcenas wrote on social media: “In the countless number of people I’ve baptised, I’ve never experienced anything like this.” “The very last baptism I did was just after 3pm. The sun was blocked by some clouds, and it was starting to get cold.” “Micah spontaneously asked to get baptised as he loves the Lord deeply and felt ready.” “We rounded up the family and started to walk in the water. I asked the Lord: Oh, please Jesus open up the clouds for a bit of sun.”
“Micah’s awesome dad Vance and I baptised him and prayed for him — and guess what came beaming through the clouds right on Micah’s head and ours?” “It could’ve gone on so many other areas, but God’s love highlighted this mighty young man so significantly.” Fire Church Carrum Downs posted: “It was an absolute honour to witness everything from whole families getting baptised together to first-time decisions accepting Jesus Christ into their hearts! 𝗛𝗔𝗟𝗟𝗘𝗟𝗨𝗝𝗔𝗛!” On the other side of the country in Perth, 550 new believers were baptised in the Swan River against the background of the city’s skyline. The event was organised by the Kingdomcity megachurch. Its founder and senior leader Mark Varughese posted: “A TRULY HISTORIC Good Friday as hundreds of wonderful people got baptised.” “So many beautiful stories of lives being turned around and we are believing that purpose and destiny will be awakened in every person that got baptised.”
“People are being baptised in water all weekend in all our locations around the globe, but this one felt different because of the step of faith to do this at this iconic location in our city” “So grateful to everyone who helped make this happen and most of all, thank You Jesus for who You are and the finished work of the cross that makes this Easter weekend even possible.” After being baptised, Alton expressed: “I feel less stress in my body. I always reflected on the mistakes I made throughout my life, and it felt so heavy and regretful every time.” “But now I don’t feel the heaviness anymore and I know that’s Jesus telling me that He has washed away all my sins!” Jundel posted simply: “From the water I rose renewed, restored and rejoicing.” Kingdomcity was only founded in 2006 but has rapidly expanded to a regular membership of around 40,000 in multiple cities across Africa, Asia, Europe, Middle East and Oceania.
