Encore Pilates and Wellness Takes a Stand Against Woke Ideology.

The Northern Territory (NT) News reported recently on an email sent from Encore Pilates and Wellness pulling sponsorship for the Waratah Football Club over the Club’s present participation in an LGBTQIA+ event. Katie Crane from Encore said they “simply cannot support any organisation that is associated with the political woke agenda that the current movement represents”. She further stated “We are very passionate about women’s sport being sacred ground for women to be safe from allowing biological men to enter the arena and we are absolutely committed to children being safe from insidious harm caused by gender mutilation and the current politicisation of the LGBTQIA+ has very real consequences that we have an obligation to stand against”. Nicholas Lay, NT Director of the Australian Christian Lobby says: “I commend Encore Pilates and Wellness for not supporting a football club that pushes woke ideology and for making a real stand against children being transitioned in the NT and for protecting women’s sport. In our current political climate, it takes someone with real gumption to stand against the LGBTQIA+ agenda.”

Encore Pilates and Wellness joins a growing list of Territorians standing against the woke ideology that has permeated women’s sport and healthcare. Last October, Robyn Lambley tabled a petition in NT Parliament calling to:

  1. Suspend all medical and surgical transitioning treatments for children in the Northern Territory to protect them from further injury.
  1. Commission an independent inquiry, similar to the Cass Review, into gender care to investigate the legitimacy of the gender treatments provided in the Northern Territory and explore a better and more scientific alternative to treat gender dysphoria among children.

The Opposition Leader, Selena Uibo in response to the petition said, “Labor will not be playing political games on such an emotional and personal topic.”  “We will not be supporting this petition.” In response, Nicholas Lay, NT Director for the Australian Christian Lobby (ACL) had this to say:  “It is clear that the Opposition are favouring “ideological rights-based medicine” over “evidence-based medicine”. This is obviously causing harm to children, and we urgently need to pull a circuit breaker while time can be given to evaluate the facts”. “I continue to call on the NT CLP Government to listen to NT petitioners and Encore Pilates and Wellness and pull the circuit breaker to suspend all medical transitioning of children in the NT, while we do a thorough evaluation and inquiry into the evidence base behind these treatments. There is likely serious human cost at stake.” Nicholas finally says: “I haven’t visited Encore before, but I look forward to making an appointment and supporting a small business that is brave and willing to stand firm for what they believe in, and I suggest others do to.”
