During the past 15 or so years my wife and I have been involved with National Day of Thanks and we have seen a lot of changes during that time. We have had a few website changes over the years. Towards the end of last year, we turned a corner and National Day of Thanks became Thanks.org.au.
Most of our product sales in past years centred around balloons, ribbons, cards that were used by churches around Australia to celebrate NDoT in a community environment, and say Thank You to many members of their communities on that designated Day – the last Saturday in May.
Over the last few years, the focus has moved to promote a thankful way of life as well as promote the Day itself. This wider perspective can take thankfulness out beyond the Christian community and impact people from all walks of life.
Due to the current Coronavirus pandemic and the need for “social distancing,” we cannot express our gratitude via community events as we have done in the past. But we certainly can say thank you to many people.
SO MANY PEOPLE TO THANK
Here are just a few ideas.
Emergency Services people:
Fire Fighters, SES, Police, Ambulance, Disaster Relief workers – not long ago they were risking their lives to save the lives and homes of others.
Healthcare Workers – including:
Doctors, Nurses, Hospital Staff, Aged Care Facility workers, and many others currently on the front-line.
Both Federal and State, who have worked tirelessly to help our Nation during this pandemic. Why not send a letter or card to our Prime Minister and to the Premier of your State to say thanks?
And don’t forget:
Family members – Mums and Dads, Grandmothers and Grandfathers Aunts and Uncles, brothers, sisters, and cousins. Your Teachers at school. Supermarket Staff. Neighbours and friends in your community.
SO MANY WAYS TO SAY THANKS
You could make good use of technology and send an electronic message. You could write a thankyou letter or card. You could give a gift. How many ways can you think of to say Thank You to those who have made a difference in your life?
There are a variety of Thank You cards available in our On-Line Store. Or you can purchase from Koorong Books. We have full size cards that you can post, and Mini Thank You cards that you can give to someone or leave at their front door. Have a look in our store and in Koorong – you will a variety of cards you can give someone.
