Greetings dear friends!
In the midst of these days of rapid change with each new day presenting more bad news and forecasting an uncertain future, let us all be assured that this global crisis created by the COVID-19 virus has not caught God off-guard. We trust you are keeping well and have a deep sense of God’s peace and assured hope in the midst of the storm.
Like many of you, our APN Leadership team have been “grounded”, this means that we are unable to travel or fulfil any ministry invitations and scheduled Watchmen Schools due to the closure of places of worship and a number of state borders by our Federal and State Governments. Schools which we have already postponed are listed below.
However thankfully though the power of online communication we have the ability to use the airwaves at this time to send out a strong message of hope right into your homes as well as carry on some essential ministry like our newsletters and National 24 Hour Prayer Watch.
Philippians 4:6-7 is a great Scripture to use as our foundation in troubled times. It says, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (NIV) Therefore let the love of God dispel all fear and calm our anxious hearts.
We can assure each of you that our Father God is clearly calling His people to Himself at this time. 1 Peter 3:12 says, “For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and His ears are attentive to their prayer…” (NIV) also see Psalm 34:15 and 2 Chronicles 16:9. He hears our prayers and the cry of our hearts and He really understands what the magnitude of the current situation is for us. As we teach in our APN Advanced Schools, “all history is under the direct control of a sovereign, omnipotent, loving and holy God.” Therefore, we can have confidence in our position in Christ and like the prophet Habakkuk in the Old Testament came to understand, we too can hold onto the reality that, the God of the crisis is the same God who makes us serenely victorious in the crisis.
Things may get worse before they get better, but as Jesus instructed us in Matthew 24:6, “…don’t be alarmed…” Indeed unnatural words of comfort in the midst of unrelenting conflicts. However, He’s not alarmed and neither should we His children be alarmed, this is how He wants us to spiritually and emotionally prepare ourselves so that we can be His agents of light, hope, peace and compassion as we practically respond to the rising realities that will confront us daily. In this way we become ‘signposts’ of the King and His kingdom, pointing people to the One who holds their future in His hands.
Let us encourage each of you that in the midst of this storm, that instead of asking, “God, what are You going to do about these threatening dark clouds gathering on the horizon”, maybe it’s time for each of us to hear clearly His voice whispering to us… “What are you prepared to do about it?” Such a question demands a personal response.
In seeking the Lord the other morning, the following passage of Scripture came to light… “The preparations of the heart belongs to man, but the answers of the tongue are from the Lord” (Proverbs 16:1 MEV). Therefore in these challenging and difficult times it’s crucial to prepare the heart to hear what the Holy Spirit is saying in this hour.
In finishing let us quote a great line from Winston Churchill, who once said … ‘never waste a good crisis!’
At present we have had to indefinitely postpone the following Schools. New dates for these Schools will not be decided until the current Government restrictions on travel and use of worship centres has been lifted. The fate of Schools due to be held after 31/5/20 will be decided on a month by month basis.
