VICTORIA MEDDLES WITH CONFUSED KIDS’ GENDER

By Australian Newsletter

The Australian Christian Lobby (ACL) has consistently expressed concern over the number of children being rushed into irreversible, life-changing gender reassignment medication or surgeries.  A recent report found there were 336 new referrals to the Royal Children’s Hospital gender clinic in 2019, representing a 1,767% increase since 2012.  From 1 May, Victorians can now change their gender on their birth certificate to any sex descriptor they wish every 12 months “without having to undergo invasive and costly sex surgery”.  Children under 18 can also change gender through an application submitted by their parents.

Meanwhile, the Victorian government intends to prosecute anyone for ‘Conversion Therapy’, a concept it deems to include anything other than affirming a child’s nominated gender identity.  “This astonishing surge in life-changing treatments by minors should be scrutinised carefully.  Federal Health Minister Greg Hunt must support a government inquiry into the surge in gender-confused children and the way they are being treated.  Simply calling for a nationally consistent approach as he has done is far too little, too late.”  “The ACL calls on all governments to put the brakes on rushing children into irreversible sex changes – as the UK government is about to do.”

CHILD SEX CHARGES AGAINST VICTORIAN BROTHEL REQUIRE NORDIC SOLUTION

By Australian Newsletter

A child has been exploited in prostitution in Melbourne, according to charges laid against Melbourne brothel operators.  The case coincides with the Andrews Labor Government review into removing criminal penalties for sex work.   “Further decriminalisation will put more children in harm’s way,” Australian Christian Lobby (ACL) Victorian spokesperson Jasmine Yuen said.  “Victoria can protect children by adopting the Nordic model that fines men for treating women and children as commodities.  This model also helps trafficked people exit the industry.”  “ACL calls on the Andrews government to include the Nordic model in its review, as it is the best way to protect children from sexual exploitation.”

FEATURE ARTICLE 9th May 2020

By Feature Articles

To all our mothers, we wish you a very Happy Mother’s Day and thank you for all you mean to all of us.

JUST A MUM?

A woman, renewing her driver’s licence was asked by the woman at Registry to state her occupation.  She hesitated, uncertain how to classify herself.  ‘What I mean is,’explained the woman at Registry, do you have a job or are you just a …?’  ‘Of course I have a job,’ snapped the woman. ‘I’m a Mum.’  ‘We don’t list ‘Mum’ as an occupation, ‘housewife’ covers it,’ said the recorder emphatically.

I forgot all about her story until one day I found myself in the same situation.  The Clerk was obviously a career woman, poised, efficient, and possessed of a high sounding title like, ‘Official Interrogator’ or ‘City Registrar.’  ‘What is your occupation?’ she probed.  What made me say it?  I do not know.  The words simply popped out.  ‘I’m a Research Associate in the field of Child Development and Human Relations.’  The clerk paused, ball-point pen frozen in mid-air and looked up as though she had not heard right.  I repeated the title slowly emphasizing the most significant words.

Then I stared with wonder as my pronouncement was written, in bold, black ink on the official questionnaire.  ‘Might I ask,’ said the clerk with new interest, ‘just what you do in your field?’  Coolly, without any trace of fluster in my voice, I heard myself reply,  ‘I have a continuing program of research, (what mother doesn’t) in the laboratory and in the field, (normally I would have said indoors and out).  I’m working for my Masters, (first the Lord and then the whole family) and already have four credits (all daughters).  Of course, the job is one of the most demanding in the humanities, (any mother care to disagree?) and I often work 14 hours a day, (24 is more like it).

‘But the job is more challenging than most run-of-the-mill careers and the rewards are more of a satisfaction rather than just money.’  There was an increasing note of respect in the clerk’s voice as she completed the form, stood up and personally ushered me to the door.  As I drove into our driveway, buoyed up by my glamorous new career, I was greeted by my lab assistants, ages 13, 7, and 3.  Upstairs I could hear our new experimental model, (a 6 month old baby) in the child development program, testing out a new vocal pattern.  I felt I had scored a beat on bureaucracy!  And I had gone on the official records as someone more distinguished and indispensable to mankind than ‘just another Mum.’

Motherhood!  What a glorious career!  Especially when there’s a title on the door.

Does this make grandmothers ‘Senior Research associates in the field of Child Development and Human Relations’

And great grandmothers ‘Executive Senior Research Associates’?  I think so!

I also think it makes Aunts, ‘Associate Research Assistants.’

SHOCK RISE IN ONLINE PREDATORS DURING CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC

By Australian Newsletter

Online child sex abuse has more than doubled since the coronavirus outbreak, prompting the government to launch a national campaign warning parents to strictly monitor child activities at home during school closures.  The disturbing rise in child grooming and exploitation on the web since February comes amid the emergence of COVID-19-themed child abuse forums, some with more than 1000 members, sharing videos and images between pedophiles.  The move to raise the alarm for families follows one of the largest police operations into web-based child sex abuse that took two years and netted 16 Australians, who were charged with 738 offences, earlier this year.

According to the Australian Federal Police (AFP), another 23 people have been charged with 140 web-based child abuse offences since March 9.  The Australian Centre to Counter Child Exploitation’s (ACCCE) triage unit has been inundated over the past month with reports from the community about children being targeted online by pedophiles seeking to make contact.  The grooming attempts occurred across a range of platforms including social networking, video and image sharing, gaming and instant messaging apps.  The AFP data shows the amount of child abuse material shared on the darknet between February and March had doubled from this time last year.

Home Affairs Minister Peter Dutton has launched a national campaign to inform parents and carers to be especially vigilant in monitoring their children’s online activity while school closures continue.  The ACCCE is also understood to have uncovered child abuse forums established as a result of COVID-19 stay-at-home restrictions that have driven more users onto the darknet.  The AFP said COVID-19 messaging was being used in the title of child-sex abuse forums, with the ACCCE identifying an increase in users who were saying they were new to the darknet and were seeking advice and guidance on how to post child exploitation images and videos within hidden services.

There was an increase in the number of users claiming they were posting child abuse material within the darknet for the first time.  “The COVID-19 pandemic and the holiday period present online safety challenges for children and young people, such as online grooming, unwanted contact and image-based abuse, as they spend more time online with the possibility of limited adult supervision,” Mr Dutton said.  “Children are potentially at further risk due to their isolation from schools, friends and community members who would otherwise be able to assist in mandatory reporting.

“My message to online child sex offenders is simple: we are watching, and if you offend against children physically or by engaging them online, we will find and charge you to the full force of the law.  “The government is doing everything within its power to prevent online child sexual exploitation, but we need parents and carers to play a lead role in protecting children.”  The campaign will be spearheaded by the ACCCE and the ThinkUKnow program, with a resource pack alerting parents to tasks over seven days to ensure the safety of children online, including reviewing privacy settings, researching the apps and games children use and creating an online family safety contract.

A global child exploitation sting triggered by a US Department of Homeland Security investigation has rescued four Australian children as young as two months old who were used to produce child rape videos and images through online pedophile networks.  AFP Commissioner Reece Kershaw had warned of a spike in traffic across the so-called dark web, including live-streaming and incidents of child sexual abuse and child grooming, since the outbreak of the coronavirus.  “This type of offending has no borders,” Mr Kershaw said last week.  “It is very hard to explain to a society, to people who don’t see the images, these involve images like you’ve never seen before.”

PARLIAMENTARY INQUIRY NEEDED INTO SPIKE IN TRANS KIDS’ REFERRALS

By Australian Newsletter

Doctors and other children’s advocates will be disappointed in Health Minister Hunt’s refusal to support calls for a full inquiry into the spike in referrals of children for transgender therapies and surgeries.  Children need their innocence protected.  Irreversible changes to their bodies create a serious risk of future regret and mental health issues.  “The Australian Christian Lobby (ACL) expressed strong concern last month about the advice the Minister received on this issue,” ACL spokesman Dan Flynn said.  “Doctors should not be forced to affirm a child’s stated new gender.

Children wanting to change gender is a recent phenomenon, rising from three children from 2003-7, to over 1,000 by the end of 2018.  This harmful trend is largely a social contagion arising from LGBTI promotion of gender confusion in schools and initiatives like ‘Drag Queen Story Time’.”  “The ACL maintains its call for a full parliamentary inquiry into the causes and treatment of gender dysphoria in children.  If the Minister won’t investigate this serious trend, parliament should.” Mr Flynn said.
