NATIONAL SOLEMN ASSEMBLY
For those unable to come to Canberra we encourage participation in the following
forms:-
We encourage Churches to open their buildings for prayer during the hours that
the Solemn Assembly is in session and to organise a roster of their praying
people to ensure continuous prayer co-inciding with the Canberra times each
day. Churches in a geographical area are encouraged to combine their activities
as a sign of the unity and oneness of the Body of Christ that God desires.
Churches are encouraged to use their normal services that weekend to link in
with the theme of repentance and forgiveness. At 12 Noon local time on the
Sunday we invite people to remain in their Churches, or unite at a combined
venue designated by Ministers Associations in geographical areas, to participate
in a National Solemn Assembly till 3.00PM, led locally but co-inciding with
the National Event in Canberra when we will unite as one Body across the nation
to humble ourselves and pray, repent of our wicked ways and cry out for His
mercy towards us His people and for our nation.
In any communities where the Church does not pick this up we encourage Prayer
Groups and Individuals to organise their own gatherings seeking to embrace
all praying people in their community in their plans.
The planning of this event must now proceed in detail so at this point in time
we do not know answers to all the questions people may have. We will be putting
out regular updates which will fill in the gaps and we ask for your patience
as we do this. This is one reason why we have given 3 months notice of the
date to allow due time, given that the holiday season is almost upon us, for
plans to be made in Canberra and in communities across Australia.
These updates will be sent across the respective prayer networks participating
in this initiative. We seek the assistance of all recipients of this email
to distribute it to those with whom you have contact, especially Pastors of
Churches who may not otherwise find out about the calling of the Assembly.
For obtainment of regular information as plans unfold, regularly visit our
website www.ausprayernet.org.au
For specific enquiries regarding the Solemn Assembly please call our national
office on 07 3343.8242 and ask for Stuart or Crystal, or email your enquiry
to solemnassembly@cityharvest.org.au
Please note there is no registration required for this event nor is accommodation
being provided. That will be your own responsibility. If you become aware of
large contingents (25 or more) coming from any Church or community please let
us know as a gauge of how many people we may expect on the weekend. We have
facilities that will cater for many thousands.
We are encouraging those participating in the Solemn Assembly to fast during
the hours that the Assembly is in session i.e. 11.00AM till 8.00PM Friday and
Saturday and 12 noon till 3.00PM Sunday. Fasting is optional and those wishing
to extend it to cover the whole period of the Solemn Assembly from start to
finish (11.00AM Friday till 3.00PM Sunday) may also do that.
A love offering to cover expenses will be taken at the Canberra Assembly however
for those unable to attend or simply wanting to assist us in meeting the anticipated
heavy expenses associated with an event of this magnitude we invite donations
to be forwarded to the Australian Prayer Network PO Box 31 Epping NSW 1710.
Your generosity would be greatly appreciated.
This is a once in a generation event. Our nation is in desperate need of both
natural and spiritual rain. We believe the breaking of the physical drought
is dependant on the breaking of the spiritual drought which in turn is dependant
on us humbling ourselves before Almighty God and recommitting our ways back
to Him. We invite you to be part of this historic event.
